This was in a rural area in Pennsylvania, near the Confluence campground where we were staying- - It dates from 2004- This involved a chase, and the Chief was killed-
Chief Sheridan Caton was killed when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle while he was engaged in a pursuit.
Chief Caton was assisting the Confluence Police Department and the Summit Township Police Department during a pursuit. Approximately nine minutes into the pursuit the Confluence officer lost sight of the suspect vehicle. Chief Caton was traveling on Listonburg Road, in Addison Township, when a vehicle struck his vehicle at a high rate of speed. Chief Caton was killed in the collision.
In June 2007, the suspect was convicted of charges in connection with Chief Caton's death and sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison.
Chief Caton had served with the Elk Lick Township Police Department for 10 years and had previously served with the Myersdale Police Department for 30 years. He is survived by his son, daughter, four grandchildren, five sisters, and two brothers.

Not exactly a roadside shrine, but it will do- Flight 93 National Memorial- Shanksville, Pa July 17 2013
I was able to visit the Flight 93 memorial today- to complete my trifecta for the 9/11 sites.
This wreath was courtesy of the boy scouts-
As you walked along the monument, there were several "mini shrines," where folks had left various remembrances-
This was a proper, well done memorial- glad I got to get it off the bucket list.

Near Sibley, Missouri Saturday June 29, 2013
At a busy intersection, must have pulled out in front of someone- Not sure why the little cross was there, no writing on it. Google search didn't turn anything up on this accident.

Near Eunice, La. June 8, 2013
This anonymous marker was on the way to Eunice, La, off of I-10. It has the distinct Louisiana styling of a modified fleur de lis. I've seen several with this motif, but this was the first one I was able to capture.

Near the Grand Bay NWR in Gautier, Mississippi June 4 2013
Spotted a pair of shrines as I was headed to the National Wildlife Reserve today and stopped.
Unable to find anything out about the accident after a Google search.
Just down the road, there was this :
Evidently two different accident sites, guessing the two ladies in one accident, and the Bob fellow in another. His was dated 01.
Then, I was visiting the Sand Hill Crane NWR down the road a bit, and saw this as I exited: No distinguishing features here:
No names, but again, obviously two different wreck scenes, or a double fatality
